Innsbruck is worth a visit, no matter the season. The location of the Absteige makes it possible. It only takes 9 minutes to walk to the city center or the first forest path. A hike to the next summit can also be started directly from your doorstep. In winter and summer you are perfectly connected to ski and leisure areas by a bus that stops right outside your front door.
Within only 9 minutes you will reach the city center by foot. That means you can easily explore Innsbruck on your own two feet. Of course, numerous city tours and a hop-on hop-of tour are also offered, which you can join anytime.
Whether autumn, winter, spring or summer, the Absteige is the ideal starting point for activities in the fresh air. Do you prefer a bike, or would you rather ski or snowboard, or even hike? The best tips and tours for sport and exercise in the mountains can be found here:
Austrian kitchen
The closest is the rustic Burenwirt. You can also dine in Die Wilderin or the Piano Bar just a few minutes’ walk away. As another option for traditional Austrian food, Buzihütte is a great destination after a 45-minute walk through the forest (or a short taxi ride).
Vegetarian & vegan
Those who prefer not to eat meat will find vegetarian alternatives everywhere, but the Olive is our top tip as a purely vegetarian and vegan restaurant.
Drinks
You can treat yourself to something alcoholic until late at night at M&M Bar Bar (cocktails), Bar Moustache, John Montagu, Babalon and Rififi.
Cabarets and concerts take place regularly in the Treibhaus. The Kellertheater offers local theater on a smaller scale.
The Dachsbau is a club in the old town with a fun and varied program. Innsbruck’s subculture can be found at the PMK. There are many other night clubs in the neighborhood (called the Bögen), such as the Tante Emma, where you can dance to electronic music until midday.
The Absteige is the perfect starting point for all kinds of activities. However, if you prefer to stay at home, you can of course make yourself comfortable in your room or apartment in front of the internet-enabled flat screen. If that’s too boring for you, there is a playroom just a few meters away in the basement of Riedz Apartments – with table tennis and table football – which you can use. The private garden of the Riedz also available for fun and relaxation.
